Mr Koh to be Principal of River Valley High School

Our former principal, Mr Koh Yong Chiah, is set to become the principal of River Valley High School at a last minute principal reshuffle.

Initially set to be the new principal of Innova JC, Mr Koh will be replacing River Valley High School Principal, Ms Ek Soo Ben, with effect on December 18. One of the reasons being that MOE wants a principal with a chinese educated background to lead the school, which will move into its new campus situated along Jalan Boon Lay.

The new principal of JJC is still Ms Tay Lai Ling.

firstly, i want to thank SHU HAN and DOUGLAS for their effort to help organise the BBQ 'today'.
also, for the teachers that make an effort to come to our BBQ all the way from home.
last but not least, those who have attended the BBQ.
your attendance is greatly appreciated.
for those who couldn't make it, it's okay.
we will still have another chance to be grouped together as a class once more.

i've enjoyed myself throughout the whole BBQ.

In view of the H1N1 Influenza A, the school has taken a few precautions and all students are required to follow them promptly.

Students are to do the following:

Visit JJC's website and download the travel declaration form. This is to be filled in and handed in by next monday; 29 June.
Those who have gone overseas during the holidays are to contact Mdm Peh directly by today (24 June). This should be about the 7 days mandatory stay home quarantine.

Korean Students Coming for Immersion

Dear class,

There will be Korean students coming for a 1 day immersion programme in JJ next Tuesday (26 May). 3 students are required from each class to accompany them as buddies for the day. Currently, Samuel from our class is the only volunteer, so we will need 2 more students. Those who are interested please message me with your email and contact.

As buddies, there will not be any special changes to your schedule for that day. Basically, the Korean student will follow you with the usual lectures and tutorials on that day. However, it will make sense to make a copy of the timetable for them.

Well, i still find it amusing that you all think im some GP/Geog/Humanities genius. Truth is.. im really not. but i would like to help you guys in this area.

Haha You see, i had just started on geography, when i got a message from Shu Han. "Pls Help Me for Geog!" So i started to watch the videos. The truth is.. the first video about mexico confused the living crap out of me. what with the sesimic gaps and earthquakesblahblah. after watching it multiple times without understanding, i was ready to give up. BUT, INSTEAD I WENT ON TO SEARCH FOR AN EXPLANATION to what i was confused about. i looked up the 1985 mexico city earthquake on wikipedia, and followed the links to sesimic gaps. understanding along the way.

You see, Humanities arent like your usual maths science subjects, where the content is dictated to you and you can just absorb it directly. For GP, you really need to look for the information on your own sometimes. I can imagine your immediate response would be: ZOMGG SO MA FAN.

Chilll. Haha the trick to it is that you need to enjoy it! the topics surrounding GP are naturally very very interesting. The NEWSPAPER is the best way to get you into these topics. trust me, just read a bit during breakfast or lunch or free time.

Secondly, the internet is a very very good place for getting information. its all about knowing where to look. personally, wikipedia is my go-to source for information. usually its pretty accurate.

Furthermore, the everything on wikipedia is related to each other. See those blue words? those are links to specific topics. if you want to learn more about it, just open the link in a new window and go and look! its really interesting! personally, i can spend hours on wiki just following links.

OKAY. dont treat it as studying. let your own interest in the subject take you. dont worry about getting distracted! thats the point! getting distracted and following a link somewhere else means your going to learn tons more information.

The beauty of it is that, you dont even need to memorise anything. Just read it, go OHH.. then it'll be passively stored in your brain.

Remember, let your own interest and passion lead you in finding out information.
